Gadgetbridge 0.94.0: New devices, Garmin improvements and a more flexible dashboard¶

This release adds support for a wide range of new smartwatches, headphones, scales, and other devices. Garmin support receives a particularly large set of improvements, while the dashboard gets more flexible widgets and charts gain several new health and fitness metrics.

There are also improvements to navigation, workouts, weather, notifications, and device reconnection, along with many fixes across the supported devices.

Garmin¶

Garmin support receives a particularly large set of improvements in this release. Gadgetbridge can now handle watch-initiated synchronization. Synchronization has also become more robust in a number of situations, with better handling of dropped frames, service disconnections, reconnections, and synchronized ZIP files.

Navigation support has been expanded considerably. GPX files can now be uploaded together with included navigation instructions, and waypoint uploads are available on all supported Garmin devices. Gadgetbridge also avoids sending stale GPS locations to the watch.

New charts provide information such as race time prediction, training readiness, and solar charging.

A number of Garmin-specific crashes and synchronization issues have been fixed, including problems affecting older devices, disconnections, realtime settings, notification dismissal, COBS decoding, and GPX routes. Activity synchronization progress now also displays its unit explicitly.

Experimental support has also been added for 59 new Garmin devices.

Dashboard and Charts¶

The dashboard is becoming more flexible with per-widget configuration and several new widgets. SpO₂, weight, and BMI can now be displayed.

Charts have also gained several new health and fitness metrics. For compatible scales, Gadgetbridge can estimate body composition from impedance measurements. Training charts now include an optimal training load baseline, while VO₂ Max can be viewed over six-month and one-year periods. Heart rate can be displayed alongside blood pressure measurements, and temperature charts now correctly follow the configured unit preferences.

Several stability improvements have been made to live activity charts as well.

Workouts¶

Workout data can now be made more complete even when a device does not provide all the information itself. Gadgetbridge can calculate distance from GPS tracks and speed when the device does not report a distance value, while large gaps in workout data are handled more gracefully when interpolating charts.

Custom workout labels are now propagated to chart and map titles, and missing unit localizations have been addressed. GPX exports now give tracks a proper name.

Huawei, Xiaomi and Zepp OS¶

Huawei support continues to expand, with fixes for battery charging status on some watches and several improvements to the handling of recent devices.

Xiaomi-protobuf devices receive improvements to workout and activity parsing, as well as fixes for resting heart rate queries, notification handling, and all-day SpO₂ mode. Notifications using the "open on phone" action are now handled correctly as well.

Zepp OS support has been extended with additional display items and shortcut cards. Long voice notes can now be downloaded correctly, unknown languages are handled better, and weather support on recent firmware versions has been improved.

UNA Watch¶

UNA Watch receives a substantial set of improvements in this release. Connections and synchronization are faster and more reliable, with workouts imported as soon as they are saved on the watch.

Health data handling has also been improved, including per-minute heart rate data and more accurate daily totals. Phone notifications are now supported as well.

Headphones¶

A number of headphone integrations have gained new features. Quick Settings support is now available for 1MORE SonoFlow, Bose headphones, and Nothing Ear, while the Anker Soundcore Sport X20 gains multipoint pairing.

Sony Headphones reconnection has been improved, and the Bluetooth name of Nothing Ear (a) is now handled correctly. Together with the new Bose NC 700, Jabra Evolve series, and Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 support, this release adds broader coverage for headphones and headsets.

Weather information now contains more details, with atmospheric pressure, cloud cover, and dew point available in forecasts.

GloryFit devices can now receive weather information, and Zepp OS weather support has been improved. These additions also make the additional weather information available to devices and integrations that can make use of it.

CoMaps navigation integration has also been refined. Incoming navigation messages are now rate-limited during serialization, and prevent an excessive number of messages from being processed at once.

Notifications and Connectivity¶

Device connectivity receives several improvements aimed at making automatic connections more useful and reliable. A new device setting can connect one device automatically when another device (also not directly supported by Gadgetbridge) connects, and the ordering of devices can optionally be according to their most recent connection time instead of by name.

Notification handling has also been expanded. Notifications from other users / profiles can now be allowed, and several device-specific notification issues have been fixed, including incorrect titles and senders on some Amazfit GTS2 and GTR2 devices. The Amazfit Helio Band can now vibrate for incoming notifications and calls.

The BLE Intent API has been extended to support multiple target packages and is more resilient during device initialization. Reconnection has also been improved for devices where the MTU has already been negotiated.

Accessibility¶

Accessibility has received a small but important improvement: image controls now have labels that can be read by screen readers, making them easier to identify and use with accessibility services.

Maps and Other Improvements¶

Map handling has been refined so that map files are displayed from the currently selected folder. Several other integrations receive smaller improvements as well: Endurain can map additional activity types, while Pebble support now includes the SimpleWeather watchface and initial support for the new Weather v4.

Mi Body Composition Scale 2 now ignores implausible weight measurements, and the dashboard is refreshed automatically after measurements from Mi Scales. MoYoung devices gain manual SpO₂ measurements from the device card, additional workout types, and maximum-speed parsing, together with a fix for battery percentage reporting.

The CMF Watch 2+ watchface upload has been fixed, and a number of crashes have been addressed, including issues on some Android 13 ROMs, in the activity list, and when encrypted shared preferences cannot be decrypted for Wanderer or Endurain. The 12-hour midnight display in time preferences has also been corrected.

The debug section now includes the Internet Helper, and the Discovery Activity has improved timing when refreshing the device list.
